BPW Career Center: Executive Director/CEO jobs, Hood Canal jobs ...

The Pacific Northwest Salmon Center seeks an Executive Director to replace the current Director who is retiring. The Executive Director will lead the Pacific Northwest Salmon Center toward the vision of a nationally recognized, world class science, research and education center. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the projects and funding of the multi-million dollar organization.

The organization is a 501(c 3) non profit corporation consisting of three functional operations doing business as: 1. The Pacific Northwest Salmon Center founded in 2002 with the mission of conducting a salmon science, research and education center to enhance the public knowledge and appreciation of the importance of wild salmon in the ecosystem. This operation is led by the Assistant Director of Programs. 2. The Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group, one of 14 regional salmon enhancement groups in Washington State, founded in1990 with the mission of protecting and enhancing the genetic diversity and populations of wild salmon in Hood Canal through habitat protection, habitat restoration and salmon supplementation. This operation is led by the Assistant Director Projects. 3. The Farm at Waters Edge with the mission of demonstrating sustainable, eco-friendly farming practices that protect water quality and salmon habitat. Currently taken care of by staff, a farm manager to be hired when needed.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Vision Planning: Lead all staff toward a full appreciation of the vision of the Pacific Northwest Salmon Center, The Farm at Waters Edge and the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group, including creating operational and long term strategic plans to bring about the vision. Program and Organizational Development: Create and develop partnerships to promote the science, research and education programs for students, visitors, educators, scientists, community members and the general public. Revenue Generation and Business Development: Develop the science, research and education operation and facility funding through grants in cooperation with the Assistant Director Programs, donations, and a major capital campaign. In cooperation with the Assistant Director Projects, enhance the current government grant revenue and develop new revenue sources. Marketing and Communication: Create and implement an external communication and marketing plan. Management: Recruit, select and supervise personnel according to Board policy.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The successful applicant should have: - A passion to develop a nationally recognized, science, research and education center - Bachelors degree or above in business management, science or education - Minimum 5 years organizational management with progressive levels of responsibility - Experience in major fundraising, donor development and support - Experience in grant identification, preparation and management - Experience in budget development and management - Experience in development and management of science, research or education programs - Experience in working with community, education, and other non-profit organizations

Compensation: To be negotiated. Initial compensation between $75,000 and $100,000, depending upon qualifications and experience. Medical insurance, benefits package, paid sick leave, and three weeks annual vacation increasing with tenure.
